Ondo Finance has introduced tokenized versions of U.S. treasuries and bonds, a DeFi firm providing decentralized investment opportunities.
According to a blog post by Ondo Finance, stablecoin holders can now invest in bonds and treasuries through tokenized products. Upon launch, investors can choose between three different products: the U.S. Government Bond Fund, the Short-Term Investment Grade Bond Fund, and the High Yield Corporate Bond Fund. CEO and founder of Ondo Finance, Nathan Allman, said:
"We envision these security tokens and protocols that support them as creating a compliant on-chain financial ecosystem supporting both permissioned and permissionless assets, ultimately improving the accessibility, transparency and efficiency of our markets."
Tokenized fund interests in bonds that have been approved by smart contracts and can be transferred on-chain are available to investors, as per the announcement. These bonds pay Ondo Finance a yearly management fee of 0.15 percent.
On July 6, 2022, Ondo Finance successfully raised $10 million in a public token sale.
In April 2022, Ondo Finance received $20 million in Series A funding, which was co-led by Peter Thiel's investment fund.
