In 2023 Microstrategy will Launch Bitcoin Lightning Solutions

In 2023, MicroStrategy plans to release Bitcoin Lightning Network–enabled apps and solutions. On Wednesday, Michael Saylor, executive chairman of MicroStrategy, spoke in a Twitter Spaces room about the company's plans and provided some insight into the products and services in development at the software company. Saylor noted that since his promotion to executive chairman, the company's Bitcoin division has been able to devote more resources to exploring not just how to buy and hold BTC but how to actively contribute to the Bitcoin ecosystem. MicroStrategy, which is looking to expand into Bitcoin from traditional software applications, can use its expertise to help businesses adopt Bitcoin and the Lightning Network.

“We want to make it possible for any enterprise to spin up Lighting infrastructure in an afternoon and onboard thousands of employees or customers, ...we want to plug it into enterprise technology and make it a marketing strategy for any forward thinking CMO.”

MicroStrategy is looking into using Lightning for various purposes, including but not limited to online content monetization, enterprise marketing, web paywalls, and internal corporate controls. For example, according to Saylor, every CMO should be able to offer satoshis (the smallest unit of Bitcoin) as a reward for comments and ratings.

“We have teams working on it and are looking to bring something out by next year. We expect to show something in the first quarter.”

According to the Twitter Spaces conversation, Saylor also mentioned that MicroStrategy's upcoming Bitcoin event would feature a “Lightning for corporations” agenda, which should provide more detail about the company's plans to investigate and contribute to the ecosystem to increase its adoption.
