Metalcore - an NFT-based open-world

MetalCore is an NFT-based, open-world, mechanized combat game. Fight alongside your faction in territorial battles on a mineral-rich alien planet. This game combines the popular First-Person Shooter genre with building your own NFT BattleMech, and Open World elements, set in an intriguing futuristic story.

Roadmap

The current roadmap extends only to the end of 2022 but is expected to be expanded further after the release of the full whitepaper in Q3 of 2022. For the moment, the team is working towards creating the NFT genesis and getting the first modes of play ready to be tested.

Over the coming three to four months the team aims to launch its NFTs, vehicle crafting, and the Player vs. Environment play style to test the game mechanics, etc. through early access. As of writing, the chain for launching these NFTs has not yet been decided on.

First Steps

MetalCore starts with you gaining experience as a ground trooper against PvE enemies in the game’s open-world sandbox. Through play, you can earn in-game rewards. Once you have reached Level 4, you can then enter into Faction Wars, which are PvP battles, to gain control of pieces on the World Map.

Join a Faction

You can join one of three factions: Metal Punks, Gearbreakers, and The Holy Corporation (Holy Corp). Once you join a faction, you gain bonuses when your faction wins a battle against another faction. Each faction also grants passive bonuses.

Pilot a War Machine

During Faction War combat, players can call in war machines to gain the upper hand. War Machines (mechs, tanks, jets, scouts) possess special abilities that support their intended roles on the battlefield. Abilities include jump jets, afterburners, optical stealth, and barrage fire, among other things, and they are shared across War Machines of the same class. By joining fights and winning battles, players earn a greater variety of vehicles to customize and level up.

Open a Garage

As players level up, they gain more access to game systems like the Garage, where they keep and maintain their vehicles. The Garage acts as a central hub for vehicle use and rental to other players.

Become One With Baronies

You also can join in-game guilds called ‘Baronies’. With Baronies, you can team up to take on PvE challenges or participate as a squad in the Faction War. The Barony System works like a guild or clan system with ranks, leaders, dues, and rewards.

Ecosystem

There has been no official announcement about which chain the team is planning to use in order to launch its genesis series of NFTs, nor do they have a public plan for tokenomics. The chain to be used is expected to be announced near the end of June 2022 and the tokenomics are to be explained when the full whitepaper is released to the public in Q3 of 2022.

When will MetalCore be released?

MetalCore will be released in several phases. The initial Open World Alpha launch is currently scheduled for September 2022 - but will be limited access. NFT owners will be invited to play the Open World Alpha. The free-to-play version of MetalCore is scheduled for the first half of 2023.

Closing thoughts:

If you look at the project it has been very professionally set up, you don’t see many projects that still need to be launched but already have a page ready to gather feedback is a really good sign. Looking at the graphics and gameplay mentioned above means that they invested time and resources into this. Another promising web3 project that I will keep a close look at for launch!
