Cosmos Check-In #8
Welcome to Flagship’s Cosmos Check-ins! Our goal is to provide you with up-to-date and in-depth news about the Cosmos Ecosystem in less than 10 minutes! So grab a coffee, and let’s dive in.
TLDR: Ramping up the developments
On the Twitter front, it seems that social activity has been declining — but not for builders, as we go head-on towards 2023 (January is ending soon in 21 days… WTF?)
Plenty of updates recently popped up, and with that, we have decided that we will have to lengthen our check-ins to more than 7 minutes.
In this edition of the check-in, we will look at the biggest news of the week, followed by the tangible developments and non-tangible updates over the first week of 2023 — With that, let’s dive in!
The biggest news of the week
This week's biggest news has to be the news about stablecoins on Cosmos; it begs the question: Are we currently facing a setback on non-US stablecoins that is just specific to Cosmos, or is this trend for the whole crypto sector?
e-Money unwinds EEUR, and Rizon issues RCHF
This week, e-Money has ceased issuance of its EUR-backed stablecoin (EEUR) because of the current market conditions leading to low demand in non-US stablecoins and the upcoming European MiCA legislation set to hinder scalability.
Rizon, on the other hand, has launched their Swiss Franc-backed stablecoin, called RCHF, which is fiat currency reserved from Maerki Baumann, a Swiss private bank.

Tangible upgrades and launches
In this section, we look at some of the tangible updates and launches that we have seen this week, and ones that you can interact with in the next coming days (or now, even depending on when you read this).
Osmosis now includes Polygon — furthering the multi-chain vision
Now users of Osmosis have access to wMATIC after the “$OSMO/$WMATIC 789” LP went live and can trade MATIC and Polygon $USDC on Osmosis without having to touch a CEX.

EVMOS upgrades to v10.0
EVMOS has successfully upgraded to v10.0, which introduces neat UI features for users and developers, such as the automatic conversion of ERC <> IBC asset types, allowing users to sign all Cosmos TX with either Metamask or EVM wallets and including Ledger CLI support.

Fetch releases Wallet v0.6.2
Fetch has upgraded their wallet to v0.6.2, which introduces enabling/disabling read receipts for messages (yes, you can message your contacts with Fetch wallet), enhancing privacy for messaging and performance.

Leap wallet introduces notification services, called Leap Alerts
Well, it seems that Leap Wallet has been outdoing itself with upgrades every week — and this week, they introduced “Leap Alerts,” — which is a notification service for Cosmos that covers updates, news, and more for 35+ chains.

Other minor upgrades
There have also been some other minor upgrades from chains, such as Comdex upgraded to v7.0.0 — which fixes bugs in the lend module and introduces some external reward code changes to the PSM, and Dyson, which upgraded to v0.0.2, which upgrades the dependencies to the latest versions and a front-end improvement.

Non-tangible upgrades and proposals
Next, we look at the non-tangible upgrades, like the update on Kava 12 and Terra Station.
Kava 12 will be launching on 19th January
Kava 12 will launch on the 19th of January, with the primary focus of this upgrade focusing on DAOs specifically. With this upgrade, there will be much more access to upgraded DAO technologies which we’ll see in the next few days, and modular emission control.

Keplr’s worthy challenger: Terra Station
For the haters of Keplr, a new challenger will be in the ring at the end of January, the much-loved Terra Station. I’m not sure if you’ve ever tried Terra Station before, but it has had the best UI/UX anyone could ask for — and it is going to support Cosmos chains, with 22 integrations already in the works.
