Web3 game review: Arsenal by Fabwelt

Arsenal is a 3D FPS multiplayer blockchain video game that utilizes the Binance Smart Chain network and the Polygon network with its cryptocurrency, WELT. The game takes place in the Fabwelt metaverse and is playable as a WebGL right now from the official website. In the future, however, PC and mobile versions of the game will be released with an option to download to preferred devices for players.

Gameplay

Compared to the FPS games that most players are familiar with, Arsenal offers some different mechanics in its gameplay. In-game NFTs such as freezing opponents by using the "Freeze" NFT utility or becoming immortal for a short period of time by using the "God" NFT utility adds twists to the gameplay, making things much more interesting for players who are bored of standard FPS mechanics. That being said, the core mechanics of the genre are still the same; the main goal in Arsenal is to outgun the opponent and get kills to win the match.

To begin playing the game, players must stake 1000 WELT. After staking is completed, players can choose to participate in three different game modes as Free Play, Automated Tournaments, and Fabwelt Tournaments.

Free Play mode gives players the freedom of creating new game lobbies or joining existing lobbies. This is the normal match mode where players can practice and hone their skills. Players can earn points, or WELT tokens, by getting kills, headshots, killstreaks, and winning the match.

Tournaments

Automated Tournaments are tournaments that are available 24/7 and organized automatically by the system. These tournaments may happen in randomly selected maps and game modes. This automated system is set up in a way that there is always a tournament available for players to participate in. In order to get into the tournament, players must pay a gas fee in the form of WELT tokens. The prize pool of this tournament is the total amount of paying players minus 10% for P2E and staking wallet. The winning player can claim the entire prize pool.

Fabwelt Tournaments are special tournaments that will be organized by Fabwelt once every month. Again, players must pay a gas fee in form of WELT tokens to participate in this tournament type. In addition to the gas fee, depending on the tournament style, players may need to stake WELT as well to participate in Fabwelt Tournaments. The prize pool of Fabwelt Tournaments is the total amount of paying players minus 10% for P2E and staking wallet plus Fabwelt special bonus. Again, the winning player can claim the entire prize pool by himself.

It is an interesting concept the tournaments and it is needed to create a decent ecosystem to give back to your players. Not really sure about the gas fee you have to pay to participate as lots of games out there have tournaments where you don’t have to pay any entry fee with pretty high prize pools.

Play to earn

Arsenal lets you earn WELT tokens while having fun playing with friends or against other players around the world.

There are various ways to earn points and WELT tokens when playing Arsenal. A player can choose 3 types of P2E scenarios: Free Play, Automated Tournaments and Fabwelt organized Tournaments.

Overall, every 150 points gained in the game will be converted to 1 WELT token.

TIERED POINT SYSTEM

Players can incentivize their earnings even more with the Tiered Points system. This system contains multipliers that are pegged to the amount of WELT tokens the player staked on the DeFi portal.

Clans

To enhance gameplay and fun, Arsenal implemented clan system. Every gamer can setup his own clan and add members. Clans can organize tournaments internally. The tournament settings can be set by the organizing party like map, game mode, max players, entry fee, prize pool, house %, etc. Clans and the members can be recognized throughout Arsenal via name tags, profile pictures and weapon camos.

On first glance, this looks like a very interesting game and watching the screenshot from in-game footage it is something that shows time and effort have been put into this project.
