Bitcoin Futures
Futures trading for Bitcoin (BTC) involves making predictions about the asset's future value. There are several expiration dates for the futures contracts on which Bitcoin can be traded. The participants speculate on how the price of Bitcoin will change by buying and selling futures contracts. It is possible to buy and sell Bitcoin futures contracts until they mature.
At the time of expiration, contracts are settled, and the holder receives the value of the contract in Bitcoin or cash, depending on the nature of the underlying trading product and the current Bitcoin market price. Contract holders of Bitcoin futures that are settled in cash receive cash, while those settled in Bitcoin receive Bitcoin.
Bitcoin futures can be traded on several different cryptocurrency exchanges. Futures contracts for bitcoin can be bought and sold on various significant exchanges. Bitcoin futures with cash settlement and options on those futures are available through the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME).
