Axie Infinity (AXS)

Axie Infinity is a decentralized online game that utilizes blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to create a digital world called Lunacia, where players can collect, breed, and trade unique creatures known as Axies. Lunacia is made up of 90,601 segments of Land, each of which is tied to an NFT. Axies are also NFTs, meaning they can be bought and sold on the open market.

In Axie Infinity, Axies can battle against other human-owned Axies or computer-controlled opponents using cards. Axies can also be bred using the project's AXS and Smooth Love Potion (SLP) tokens. When two Axies are bred together, they can pass on genetic traits to their offspring, adding an element of strategy and customization to the breeding process.
The Axie Infinity ecosystem is built on top of the Ethereum blockchain and the Loom Network sidechain for certain components. However, the project has plans to move to a sidechain called Ronin in the future, which will be built by the game's developer, Sky Mavis. Sky Mavis owns a significant share of the AXS token supply, which is locked but has a predetermined unlocking schedule.

AXS, also known as Axie Infinity Shards, serves as the governance token for the project and is an ERC-20 token. It is used for various purposes within the Axie Infinity ecosystem and can also be traded on multiple cryptocurrency exchanges. The AXS token is an essential part of the Axie Infinity project, as it allows players to participate in the game's governance and helps ensure that the project remains decentralized.
