Legion & Legends by Azra Games

Legion & Legends is a New Sci-fi / Fantasy Action RPG from the Creators of Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, with over 25.000 members on their discord channel and $25M in seeding this is a project to watch out for in 2023.

The vision and mission of Azra Games state the following:

Founded by veteran game designer Mark Otero, best known for Electronic Arts’ top-grossing Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, and respected entrepreneurs Sonny Mayugba (COO) and Travis Boudreaux (CTO), Azra Games is backed by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), NFX, and a syndicate of luminary figures in web3 and gaming.

Mark is joined by a seasoned development team that has worked together on blockbuster titles. Credits include Star Wars, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Battlefield, and more. Legions & Legends is the flagship title of Azra Games' rapidly expanding universe.

What can we expect?

The graphics look really amazing, to begin with!

The Legion & Legends itself introduces players to a completely new galaxy. The galaxy mixes magic and technology. In this space, powerful civilizations are constantly fighting for their supremacy. Even though the game is still known, players will be involved in this war through collectible characters, which are split into three types - Legionnaires, Commanders, and Behemoths.

Legionnaires are your front lines — tough, loyal and best in large numbers. Commanders have unique attacks and buffs that bolster your forces, but are vulnerable if left unguarded. And lastly, there are the Behemoths — powerful war machines and monstrosities. These massive mechanical, biological and spectral creatures are slow, but devastating in their ability to turn the tide of war.

In the press release, Mr. Otero shares his vision for the play. He tells us about all the players that have the highest sense of playing. The time was shorter, players were given their character sheets and invested in unique pieces. I think web3 is an opportunity to recapture this spirit while innovating in a timeless fashion.

I’ve given to this release a full explanation of how games aim to become fun and balanced. Of course, players will have to wait for more information with patience.

Closing thoughts:

With the experience of Mr. Otero and the raise of $25M, the future of this game seems promising. There is still little to find, but what we can find in terms of artwork and video material looks really on point. We will keep a close eye on this project and hopefully, we can test it out later this year!
